A man was grazed by a gunshot Friday on Putnam Avenue in Zanesville.

The call came in shortly before 8:30 at 1036 Putnam Avenue. Zanesville Police Officers on the scene said they're not yet sure of a motive for the attack, but it could have been an attempted robbery. One shot was fired at the victim and grazed his leg slightly.

The suspect was described over the scanner as a black male, with a red bandana over his face, wearing a hoodie and red and black shorts.

Business owners on Putnam Avenue are banding together to fight for their stoplights.

A survey done by the Ohio Department of Transportation is recommending taking down the stop lights at either Pierce Street or Harrison Street on Putnam Avenue. Now it is up to the city to make a decision and business owners are up in arms about the stop lights being removed.

Thanksgiving Day begins tragically for one local family as they lose their home to fire.

The Zanesville Fire Department was dispatched to the home of Laura Davis, David Kennedy and Chasity and Lynn Davis around 4:30 Thursday morning when smoke was reported in the rear of the home at 1033 Putnam Avenue.

Crews from the Zanesville fire department are on the scene of a house fire in Putnam. The call came into dispatchers before 4:30am with reports of heavy smoke showing from the rear of the home at 1033 Putnam Avenue. All occupants of the home are accounted for with one suffering a burn to the arm. That person was treated at the scene.  A firefighter also suffered a cut to the hand.
