The harsh temperatures kept a sought after shot from being delivered.

Earlier this week, Rambo Memorial Health anxiously awaited the arrival of more flu vaccines. The cold temperatures kept the vaccine from shipping. Now that temperatures have improved the shot is available again.

On Thursday, over 90 shots were given out. The Centers for Disease Control reported Ohio is seeing outbreaks in the northern part of the state, moving in our direction.

Tis the season for Rambo Memorial Health's annual Yule Time Seal campaign.

In the next few days residents can check their mailboxes for the familiar stickers that can be used on their holiday mailings. This year the organization will send out 12,000 seals. Along the seals is an envelope and card that can be filled out and returned to Rambo along with a donation to support their Respiratory Care Association. One hundred percent of the donations stay local.

Representatives of Rambo Memorial Health told Muskingum County Commissioners they are at a crossroads.

While they are best known for providing flu shots, they also offer 30 other services. 13 of those services were added in the last five years. The services usually either are no cost or cost a small fee.

"I think we're getting more and more into wellness situation," said Executive Director Crystal Bebout. "We are looking at preventive type services."

In an effort to help cut down on the spread of the flu virus, Rambo Memorial Health is offering discount flu shots.

Rambo has shots available for in-county residents for five dollars. Fifteen for out-of-county. The clinic has been offering their flu shots since August but with the recent spike in flu cases, they have seen an increase in those coming in to get their shot.

One organization is asking Muskingum County residents to seal the Christmas Cards with extra care this holiday season.

Tuesday, Muskingum Respiratory Care Associations sent out 12,000 Yule Time Seals for residents to put on their Christmas envelopes. The seals come with a bright red envelope so that the organization hopes you'll send back with a monetary donation. This year's goal is $40,000.
