This year's flu season is arriving early here in Zanesville and the rest of Ohio.

One local health organization is asking  for your help this holiday season.

Rambo Memorial Health Center is kicking off its annual Yule Time Seal Fundraiser.

"We're sending out 11,000 mailers to local residents asking them for their help for a charitable donation to continue the services that we offer at Rambo. 100% of the money that comes in from our donations stays here locally," Yule Time Seal Campaign Bill Schimmel said.

If you haven't received your annual flu shot, there is still time.

Rambo Memorial Health Center is continuing to offer free flu shots to local residents. Executive Director Crystal Bebout says 16,000 shots were ordered for Muskingum County, but a majority have yet to be given due to lack of participation.

"127,000 people a year get hospitalized and a majority of these people that get hospitalized for the flu symptoms are elderly people and children," said Bebout.

Flu season is back and so are the annual shots.

A lot of people suffer from asthma, maybe even more than we make think. That's why two local groups are raising awareness.

As part of Asthma Awareness Day Rambo Memorial Health Center and Shrivers Pharmacy team up to provide the community with free lung and blood pressure tests. The seasonal flu vaccine is administered mostly during the fall and winter months to help people battle the upcoming cold and flu season.

Rambo Memorial Health Center Executive Director, Crystal Bebout, says it's proven to work most of the time.

There's a few seasonal flu shots left at the Rambo Memorial Health Center in Zanesville before they expire on June 30th.

Staff members say it was a busy year for them, giving out the seasonal flu mist and standard vaccination.

"More people were aware of the flu shot and its benefits. We had more people get it than ever before. We gave an excess of 20,000 flu shots, " says Executive Assistant, Jan Woerner.

The line was out the door most of the day at the Rambo Memorial Health Center for people wanting to get the H1N1 vaccine.

The Rambo Memorial Health Center is looking for some additional seasonal flu vaccines, and it is asking local healthcare providers for help.

"If there's any private physicians' offices that have an overabundance of vaccine, if they could donate that to rambo, that would help just to get the vaccine in a clinic setting, " says Rambo Memorial Health Center Executive Director, Crystal Bebout.
