Summer is all about road trips and vacations but it's also important to remember safety in the midst of all the fun.

Riesbeck's in South Zanesville partnered with the Sheriff's Department, Genesis Healthcare and the Muskingum County Safe Community Coalition to host a safety event today from 2:00 p.m.. until 4:00 p.m.. Staying safe while having fun in the sun...that will be the focus of a safety event held at Riesbeck's in South Zanesville later next week.

The 5th annual Community Baby Shower took place on Friday in front of the Riesbeck's south location.

Visitors donated baby care items that will be used at the community action agency to stock its baby pantry.

"You purchase a bag for $5 or you purchase a dollar item and we receive the bag the money from the purchase and that helps keep our pantry going for the year," said Kathy Combs, Outreach Coordinator.

What began as a religious feast for the Patron Saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick, has now become an international celebration of Irish culture.

Store Manager at Spencer's says that the store has seen an significant increase in business this weekend to purchase anything and everything green.

Ohio has already suffered through one polar vortex and it looks like a less deadly cold spell is on the way very soon.

With the sub-zero temperatures and more snow on the way, Riesbeck's Store Director, Rich Daugherty, said it was a hectic day.

"A lot of people with the forecast coming up, concerned more about the temperatures than anything," Daugherty explained. "Some of them are worried about power outages so they're in here buying some canned goods in case the power does go out."

A local grocer is doing its part to help breast cancer research right in our community for the third year in a row.

In October, or breast cancer awareness month, Riesbeck's Food Markets sold boxed lunches filled with various tasty deli meats, salad, rolls and a dessert in hopes to aid area cancer research groups.

Steve Fusner, the Assistant Director at Riesbeck's in Zanesville, says with the bad weather headed our way, he's noticed an increase in customers over the past two days

Purchasing a hand made boxed lunch from Riesbeck's can benefit breast cancer awareness and research.

Four years ago, Riesbeck's employees brainstormed a new way to support the fight for breast cancer and came up with breast cancer awareness lunch boxes.
