Incumbent Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton and his challenger, current Zanesville City Councilman Rob Sharrer, faced off in the WHIZ studios Thursday evening.

The two spent an hour answering questions submitted by viewers and rolling out their ideas for the city of Zanesville.

The local Fraternal Order of Police is endorsing a mayoral candidate for the November election.

The FOP Zane Lodge #5 is endorsing current City Councilman, republican Rob Sharrer for mayor of Zanesville. In 2012, the FOP did not endorse a candidate, so Sharrer said this came as a surprise.

It's the perfect time a year for doing a little bit of spring cleaning.

Your home isn't the only place that can use this special treatment though. The Muskingum County Civic Action Group have taken to our local streets and neighborhoods in an effort to clean up the city. We spoke with member Rob Sharrer about the event.

Republican candidates swept the three seats for Zanesville City Council-at-Large during Tuesday’s election.

Incumbent Ann Gildow easily won re-election last night, and is now joined by Steven Foreman and Rob Sharrer to represent the entire city. Sharrer, who lost the mayoral race two years ago by a painfully close margin, said he is excited to have been elected and has some ideas that he is looking to implement with current council members.

There will not be a primary election Tuesday in Muskingum County. But this week independent candidates running for Zanesville Mayor and City Council have officially filed their petitions with the Muskingum County Board of Elections.

Zanesville resident Randy Case will be running for mayor against democratic candidate and city councilman Jeff Tilton and republican candidate Rob Sharrer. Former second ward city councilman Kevin Mcpeek will be running for second ward once again.

The Muskingum County Republican Party has announced the endorsement of several candidates running for city government.
