The Muskingum Family YMCA's annual Zaney Reindeer 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk is coming up.

Muskingum Family YMCA Executive Director Craig Miracle says the 5K and 1 mile walk was started 10 years ago as a way to provide runners an opportunity to run in winter and as a way to raise money for families and children who can't afford the full price of the YMCA youth programs.

After running through Byesville and Cambridge, the runners ran about a mile through downtown Zanesville and made a stop at the Muskingum County Courthouse where they were met by Special Olympians cheering them on.

"We've had several Special Olympians and their families at almost every stop. I think right now, Caldwell was the only one we didn't have any. But it's going very well," said Sgt. Kay Perkins of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Cindy Courtain, an avid runner, was still in the vicinity of the finish line when the explosions went off. We spoke to her mother who says she talked to her daughter afterwards, and says she is just fine.

"I called her as soon as I saw the news and she had just crossed the finish line and was getting water when she heard the first explosion and that's all she said. Everything just kind of went different at that time," said Mother of Cindy Courtain, Margene Ryan.
