The Muskingum County Community Foundation is still accepting applications for one scholarship and offering help with financial aid.

This is the first year the Nick Tilton Memorial Scholarship is being offered. Administrative Assistant, Katie McCarty, said the scholarship is restricted to West Muskingum students who have participated in extra-curricular activities.

The District Nine Science Day took place at the new Zane State Science and Technology building on Saturday.

More than a hundred students in grades five through 12 competed in the competition. Six counties were represented including Monroe, Washington, Coshoction, Noble, Guernsey and Muskingum. The children's projects were judged on a variety of aspects.

A John Glenn High School Freshman is named Miss Columbus Teen for 2014 .

Lexi Bubenchik is from Norwich and is a very active high school student. She is a member of the spirit, ambassador and glee club at John Glenn. She says juggling her busy schedule took time and dedication, but she was prepared to win.

A local girl from Zanesville High School won two scholarships for her high academic standards.

Andrea Ross is the recipient of both the Judge Perry B. Jackson Scholarship that was established in 1991 and the Minority Business Association Scholarship that is provided by funds collected at the annual Ribfest. The rising cost of college can be stressful for students, but scholarships can help lower the price tag.

Century National Bank and Kincaid, Taylor and Geyer are accepting applications for the J. The Zanesville Rotary Club presented the Phoenix Award to several outstanding Muskingum County seniors.

All of the students were selected for overcoming some obstacle in school, whether it be health related or academically. The award acknowledges their hard work and efforts.
