The Zanesville Rotary Club presented the Phoenix Award to several outstanding Muskingum County seniors.

All of the students were selected for overcoming some obstacle in school, whether it be health related or academically. The award acknowledges their hard work and efforts.

Philo High School seniors planning to go to college may qualify for some scholarship money.

Through the Muskingum County Community Foundation, the Margaret Carol Barringer Scholarship will award a graduating senior $2,500.

Johnathan Wisecarver is a recent graduate of Tri-Valley High School. In the fall, he's moving to the southwestern corner of the state to study bio-chemistry at the University of Cincinnati, and he has hopes of becoming a doctor. It costs a lot of money in this day and age to further your education by going to college, and Zane State College wants to help. It held its 24th annual Golf Outing at Eaglesticks this afternoon.

"The golf outing has really helped us raise a big amount of money for scholarships, " says Executive Director of Institutional Advancement of College Foundation, Pamela Jira.
