 The State Highway Patrol said they'll hold an OVI checkpoint Friday evening. 

The federally funded checkpoint will take place in Fairfield County. The exact location will be announced Friday morning. 

Based on provisional data the State Patrol said there were 271 OVI-related fatal crashes in which 297 people were killed last year. The Commander of the Lancaster Post Lt. S.E. Caplinger said that each year troopers make an average of 25,000 OVI arrests.

The Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol said they'll hold a sobriety checkpoint this week.

The county where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the checkpoint and the location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint. 

Authorities said if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arraignments before you drink.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced plans for an OVI checkpoint in Coshocton County.

The Patrol, in conjunction with the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office, said the checkpoint will take place Saturday evening. The exact time and location of the checkpoint will be announced Saturday morning.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol said nearly 400 cars passed through their sobriety checkpoint on Maple Avenue Friday night.

The checkpoint was held between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. just north of Kay Drive. Despite a large volume of vehicles, Lt. Matt Boyd said the troopers encountered virtually no issues with drivers.
