The Maysville Panthers traveled to New Concord on Saturday to try to take down the defending MVL Champs, the John Glenn Muskies. They got off to a solid start but failed to convert as John Glenn showed off why they are one of the top teams in the area.

Bishop Rosecrans has been using the facilities at Zanesville High School for home football games, but that will change in a couple of years.

School officials at Rosecrans are working to build two new practice facilities on top of the hill in order to allow room for expansion for game facilities at the school.

An all too familiar trend plagued the Zanesville Athletic Football Club again on Friday night. After a missed penalty kick in the first half, and several easy chances in front of the net, ZAFC came up short to Buffalo FC, losing 1-0. Zanesville left the door open and Buffalo took advantage with a goal in the 81st minute, which proved to be the difference maker at the Maysville Athletic Complex.

The only undefeated and untied team in the National Premier Soccer League’s Midwest Region kept its perfect record intact today (Sunday) following a visit to Zanesville.

Detroit City FC shut out Zanesville Athletic FC 3-0 to run its record to 10-0-0. The win also allowed Detroit City to clinch the Great Lakes Division title. The club is expected to be the top seed in the upcoming Midwest Region playoff tournament.

The Zanesville Athletic Football Club opened its inaugural season with a loss on the road, and the home slate had a similar result. ZAFC lost at the Maysville Athletic Complex 3-2 to the defending league champion AFC Cleveland Royals.

Zanesville's first semi-professional soccer club is making its debut this Sunday. The team put the finishing touches on their preparations Friday for Cleveland AFC, another member of the NPSL (National Premier Soccer League).

The Zanesville Athletic Football Club held its third series of tryouts at the Maysville Athletic Complex on Sunday. Local players braved the cold for a shot at making the first ever roster for Zanesville AFC. Around ten players have committed to the team, with about 20 spots remaining. The club is starting from scratch under owner Josh Stocker. The Matt Brown soccer tournament which opened up day one of competition on Friday, saw day two of the tournament have just as much success. Teams from as far away as Rio Grande University came to play in the Brown tournament which raised over 2,000 dollars for the Philo head coach.
