Since May 20, a company in Zanesville has brought the making of an American tradition back inside the country's boarders. 

APEX Sports is producing handmade softballs in Muskingum County. The business is currently operating out of the gymnasium at the Muskingum County Business Incubator. it's the only setting in the United States where softballs are being made.

Zanesville shortstop Legacy Lewis has enjoyed a tremendous career with the Lady Devils. On Tuesday, all of her hard work paid off as Lewis signed a Letter of Intent to play softball at the University of Northwestern Ohio.

There have been several athletes to pass through the halls of Tri-Valley that have gone on to earn scholarships at the next level. Area softball players are striking out for breast cancer.

The West Muskingum Middle School Tornadoes hosted a breast cancer awareness game against the Philo Electrics on Sunday to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In addition to planning and organizing the game, the team's head coach also had the girls research and conduct presentations for school so they could learn more about the disease.

One local softball team is hitting the field for a good cause. “Turn the hill pink” is the motto for the West Muskingum Middle School softball girls, who are hosting a breast cancer awareness game tomorrow against Philo. Coordinator of the event, Michelle Cardiel, says it's a day of fun, for a good cause.
