A child was Life-Flighted to Columbus after being struck by an SUV in Somerset earlier Monday afternoon.

According to Trooper Pat Townsend of the State Highway Patrol, Jodi Beckstede was driving her black Chevy Tahoe down West Main Street around 5 p.m. Monday when she noticed 10-year-old Chelsey Searles and other kids riding bicycles down an adjacent alleyway.

Townsend said from there, Searles pulled out on her bike in front of the vehicle and was struck at around 5 mph.

The Village of Somerset came together to honor and remember a notable Revolutionary War Veteran Saturday afternoon.

Members of the Perry County Historical Society said Lieutenant Edward Rose was originally from Bedford, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Bedford County Militia and was later appointed First Lieutenant in the First Battalion, Second Company. Police discover a meth lab in Somerset.

Deputies with the Perry County Sheriff's Office and officials with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force conducted a search warrant Sunday at 3663 Reading Township Road 124.

Authorities discovered an active meth lab, drugs as well as drug paraphernalia.

Two men were arrested and are being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail. Names are not being released until formal charges are filed.

A young boy was transported by medflight to a hospital in Columbus following an ATV crash on Friday night.

The Perry County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 6:30 p.m. on Buckeye Valley Road just north of S.R. 669 in Somerset. It was confirmed by the Somerset Fire Department that the child was wearing a helmet.

The Sheriff's Office declined to release any more details.

A boil advisory in the Village of Somerset has been lifted.

Officials say all samples came back clear so the water is now safe for consumption.

One city in Perry County is experiencing a well-known German tradition.

Somerset held it's annual Oktoberfest to celebrate the town's pioneer past and german heritage.

The town was co-founded by Jacob Miller back in 1807. He and other german immigrant pioneers built an area log tavern that is one of the oldest in Ohio.

In nearby Somerset, residents experienced significant damage. Many claim to have seen and felt the tornado. They say the damage should speak for itself.

For locals, it's earning its name as "tornado alley."

A Perry County man is in the hospital after being shot in his own home.

The Perry County Sheriff's Office says a man was shot in this home at 301 West Main Street in Somerset around 2:20 a.m. The Perry County Sheriff's Office and the Somerset Police are still investigating the shooting, but friends of the victim say they might have an idea of what happened.

Three people are injured after a crash this morning near Somerset.

It happened east of the town on US 22 at about 7:20 this morning. 39-year old James Shahan and 39 -year old Dawn Shahan were driving eastbound on US 22, when the car went left of center and struck 32-year old Timothy Carder head-on.

James, the driver, was ejected from the vehicle.

All three were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.
