Firefighters are investigating the cause of a trailer fire in Newton Township.

According to Lieutenant Josh Bryan, firefighters from Newton Township, South Zanesville and Roseville were called to Darlington Drive Sunday afternoon.

He said the trailer was fully engulfed, but crews were able to contain the fire. Bryan said the trailer has been unoccupied for about six months.

Firefighters were called to a fire Wednesday night in Wayne Township. The fire broke out at 1611 Lawhead Lane around 7:30 p.m.

Wayne Township Fire Chief Don Alexander says that the owner of the home was grilling just outside the garage, and went inside for a minute. When she came out, the detached garage had caught on fire. Local firefighters say practicing for fires is important, especially when it comes to new employees.

The South Zanesville Fire Department along with Wayne and Harrison Townships had a joint exercise in Village Park Saturday morning. The Ohio Fire Academy provided a Flashover Behavior Lab for the firefighters to use. .

The South Zanesville Fire Department was called out to a large grass fire Tuesday afternoon.

It happened in the 3000-block of Ridge Avenue in Springfield Township around around 4:30.

A trailer was destroyed in a fire early Wednesday morning.

According to Bob Hatfield with the Harrison Township EMS, emergency personnel were called to the scene at 3750 Cannelville Road in Brush Creek Township shortly before 4 a.m.

The trailer home was unoccupied. Hatfield says it was already fully-engulfed by the time crews arrived on scene. It was a complete loss.

Harrison Township was assisted by the South Zanesville Fire Department.

A rollover crash in Springfield Township Wednesday evening sends one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to Trooper Stephen Williams with the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, shortly after 8 p.m. residents on Shiplett Road heard a loud crash.

When they went outside they saw a white GMC Sierra pick-up truck had lost control and was on its roof in front of 1070 Shiplett.

A large plume of white smoke could be seen for miles in South Zanesville Sunday afternoon.

Ed and Marilyn Labaki say they were dumping leaves on Clay Street when they believe their Ford Ranger pick-up sparked a fire in the leaves below the truck. The fire quickly engulfed the pick-up truck and surrounding leaves. The South Zanesville Fire Department arrived on scene to put out the fire. No one was injured in the fire and the Labakis say the truck is a complete loss.
