 March Madness kicks-off today, and area bars are inviting the community out to watch their favorite teams play.

The Barn on Linden is hosting March Madness festivities all month long. Owner, Jim Watson said folks have been out celebrating today as early as 8 a.m this morning. The State Highway Patrol is asking drivers to stay sober behind the wheel this Saint Patrick's Day.

Between 2009 and 2013, 276 deaths were reported nationwide in drunk driving crashes on the holiday. Lieutenant Matt Boyd said Troopers will be watching out for signs that impaired drivers are on the road Thursday night and will be more vigilant about violations.

Saint Patrick's Day is Tuesday and the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office will have more deputies on the roadways.

Sheriff Matt Lutz said it's not to cause trouble, but rather to protect against it. Many people will head out to celebrate one of the biggest party days of the year. Lutz said officers will be out to help slow people down.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz is asking the public to stay safe during the weekend leading up to St. Patrick's Day coming up this Monday.

About 100 people dressed in green participated in the St. Patty's Day Mud Run on Saturday afternoon.

"This is our second annual St. Patrick's Day Mud Run, and we were real excited, we were hoping to have 100 runners and that's exactly where we ended up this year.
