A fire has consumed a historic Perry County school house.

According to Lieutenant Mick Zartman with the New Lexington Fire Department, the fire broke out shortly before midnight last night at the Bristol School House just south of New Lex.

WHIZ spoke with Joseph Boley who owns the school house. He says he called the Sheriff's office saying there were three people in the lot of the building around 9 pm last night and the next thing he knew, it was up in flames....

The cause of a New Lexington fire that killed three individuals early Sunday morning is still not known.

The State Fire Marshall's Office is continuing its collaborative investigation with the New Lexington Police Department.

Spokesman Shane Cartmill says the fire appears to have started on the first floor. Neighbors reported seeing heavy smoke coming from the upstairs area. That's where the bodies of 40-year-old Steven Kern, 36-year-old Kathryn Wright, and 13-year-old Eric...

The State Fire Marshall's Office says the cause of a Perry County fire at 121 Ohio 555 is still undetermined.

Spokesman Shane Cartmill says investigators are waiting to conduct interviews with the family, who are still on vacation.

The fire broke out early Saturday morning. The Crooksville Fire Department says it ripped through the home, which is considered a total loss.

The State Fire Marshall's Office says there are now nine confirmed arsons in the city of Newark with one fire still under investigation.

All 10-fires have happened within a span of less than two weeks. The latest two fires occurred early this morning.

WHIZ's Emily Baird explains why these incidents have Newark residents on-edge.

"Who wants to have a fire next door to your house or wherever? So, it's definitely concerning, " says Newark resident Megan McLouth.
