A Nashport man is in critical condition Wednesday night following a motorcycle accident on State Route 60 just south of Fairview Road.
Trooper Joshua Weaver with the Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol said just after 8 p.m., Ryan Hannahs, 32, was heading north on State Route 60, when he negotiated a left-hand curve, went off the right-hand side of the roadway and hit a road sign. Hannahs was then ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the impact.
A strong line of storms blew over and uprooted several trees near Gaysport Thursday afternoon.
The downed trees were located on State Route 60 just south of Shaver Road. The State Highway Patrol was on scene to survey the damage. WHIZ Forecaster Katie Donovan says winds from some of the storms exceeded 60 miles per hour.
A two car accident with severe injuries occurred on State Route 60 Thursday evening.
It happened around 6PM at mile post 9 which is about a half mile north of Duncan Falls. The accident initially closed the highway in both directions. The southbound lane was re-opened at 6:45pm to let both sides of traffic pass. Lieutenant Matt Boyd of the Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol explained what happened.

The rock wall construction on State Route 60 just south of Duncan Falls is now in the final stages.
Construction began on the wall in mid-July. Crews worked to move the wall back about eight feet and also added mesh wire fencing. An earth mound is being built between the wall and road as well to protect the rock from weathering and the elements.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said construction on a rock wall along State Route 60 is going smoothly and even running a little ahead of schedule.
Construction began on the wall in mid-July, shutting down a section of State Route 60 just south of Duncan Falls. ODOT's Ericka Pfeifer said the goal of the project is to move the wall back away from the roadway to ensure the safety of drivers.

The roadway is scheduled to re-open on September 15th. The Ohio Department of Transportation will be drilling directly into the rock and removing it. They will then use wire mesh to contain the rock wall east of the road.

Some area officials fear a plan by the Ohio Department of Transportation could have severe consequences for those that travel State Route 60 near Dresden.
A Jefferson Township Trustee said that when he found out ODOT was studying plans to remove the traffic light at State Route 60 and Raiders Road he began to write letters. He along with other trustees and county officials contacted ODOT and State Representatives urging them to keep the light.
