ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Sunday wraped up the 3 day long celebration of the 2nd Annual Veterans Appreciation weekend.

Green Valley Golf Club did it's part toward helping to send veterans to the Honor Flight out of Columbus by hosting a golf outing. Steve Galloway said the whole idea behind this project is to have fun while supporting the local veterans.

The start to the 2nd Annual Veterans Appreciation weekend is only 7 days away.

The weekend long event begins Friday June 10th and goes on until Sunday, June 12th. Friday will be the start to the 'Flags of Honor' held at Zane's Landing Park. Spring has officially sprung in Ohio.

 The first annual Veteran's Appreciation Weekend is coming up on the second weekend in June.

The weekend will feature a 'Flags of Honor' presentation, a Poker Run, live music at Terry's Tavern, and it will finish up with a golf outing at Green Valley Golf Club. General Manager of Green Valley Steve Galloway explained how the idea for the weekend came about.

Water isn't only leaving the banks of the Muskingum River this week.

Creeks and ponds all over Southeast Ohio are overflowing as well. The pond at Green Valley Golf Course left its banks Thursday. Golf Pro Steve Galloway said it's something they deal with each year. Despite dredging the pond and creek, the water still comes pouring out.

The annual Zanesville District Golf Association Golf Show is just a few weeks away.

This year the Z.D.G.A. is offering something new at the show. Four golf club manufacturers will be in attendance with the latest line of clubs for attendees to try and give feedback. This will go along with the long drive competition that takes place each year. Event organizer and Zanesville Country Club's Golf Pro, Mike Durant, said the event gets people together after a long winter off from golf.

There's a few extra water hazards on one local golf course following this weekend's rain.

The golf pro at Green Valley Golf Course on Dresden Road not so affectionately refers to one of the lakes on the course, used to water the greens, as "Lake Make No Money."

This weekend it lived up to its name as four inches fell on the course from Saturday into Monday morning.
