In celebration of 'Law Day' the Muskingum County Bar Association awarded three local students with essay scholarships.

The Muskingum County Bar Association sponsored an essay contest that was open to 2016 graduates of high schools in Muskingum County. The essay was focused on the historical Miranda vs. Arizona case.  Muskingum County High School seniors have the opportunity to get more scholarships for college.

The Muskingum County Bar Association is holding its annual essay contest and applications are due April 21 by noon. This years theme is Miranda: More than Words. This weekend marks the opening of McDonald's Farm and greenhouse for the fall season.

This is a big year for the farm because they're celebrating their 10 year anniversary. Some of the activites they offer to guests include a petting zoo, an enchanted forest with Bambi and Thumper, and a pumpkin patch along with a corn maze.

A prominent member of our community has passed away.

John Montgomery, who had been in failing health for several months, passed away Thursday at the age of 83. Originally from Lancaster, he graduated from Ohio State University and went on to work as a local banker and also sold insurance.

Montgomery was actively involved with the Muskingum County 4-H program where he served as an advisor for 62 years. He was also an active member of Ark Spring Baptist Church.

Locals got an early start on the fall season with a trip to McDonald's Greenhouse and Farm on Adamsville Road.

Saturday was the first day that the McDonalds opened their Native American inspired corn maze for the season. They have run the maze for the past 8 years and are anticipating a good season.
