History buffs took a sail back in time down the Mighty Muskingum today.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Convention and Visitors Bureau Hosted its 2nd annual Lorena Sternwheeler Civil War Reenactment. The Lorena made its way down the Muskingum at 10:00, 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00. While confederate troops stationed on the riverbed opened fire on the union held sternwheeler. We talked with Private Bob Daniels and his men right before their attack on The Lorena as he explained the strategy....

The Muskingum River normally sees high waters during the springtime from the snow melting and spring rains, but this year, the high rains came in July, which is the peak season for the Lorena Sternwheeler.

Every five years, The Lorena Sternwheeler is required to be inspected by the Coast Guard  which alone costs 47-thousand dollars and at  last weeks inspection they found several areas of concern.
