Zanesville Fire Department continues its hydrant flushing on Monday, June, 6.

Hydrants will be be flushed between 7:30am-2:30pm within the general areas of:

  • Adair Avenue
  • Maple Avenue
  • Stanton Avenue
  • Norwood Boulevard
  • Euclid Avenue
  • All side streets

It's advised to wait until after 4pm for the water to clear before doing laundry.

Fires have been a constant threat in Muskingum County. On Wednesday, Zanesville Fire Department Assistant Chief Doug Hobson spent the day with us explaining what happens after a blaze.

The Zanesville Fire Department got called to two fires that took place Monday morning.

The first fire was at 3 am. The structure fire was on 201 Luck Avenue at a two story residential home. It was determined that it was an upstairs bedroom fire. According to Assistant Fire Chief Doug Hobson, he said that no one was hurt.

A house fire early Sunday morning on Dockray Dr. is under investigation with the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Falls Twp. Fire Chief Joe Hunt said they responded to the call just after 2 a.m. Sunday. Two adults were in the home at the time of the fire but no injuries were reported.

The Chief said it took crews four hours to get the fire under control at the over 5,000 sq. ft. 1 story home.

On average, seven people die every day from a home fire.

Muskingum County is looking for volunteers for their 'Home Fire Preparedness Campaign' where they will try to reach their goal of installing 145 free smoke alarms in local homes.

Installation will take place Tuesday September 15th and Friday September 18th. The Zanesville Fire Department is inviting the public to join them for a night full of laughter and fun.

Emergency responders in the area came together for an accident safety workshop on Friday.

Members of the Zanesville Fire Department and some of Muskingum County's fire departments, and local towing companies worked together in an effort to improve emergency safety on the roadways.
