 The Zanesville Fire Department responded to a fire around 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at 1133 Putnam Ave.

Assistant Chief Bob Long said the home is vacant and that the fire started at the back of the house. Long also said that the fire is suspicious since the house lacks utilities. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Putnam avenue was shut down for approximately an hour and a half while crews got the fire under control.

Jeff Moore had an idea and is making it a reality.

Moore has been a firefighter and paramedic at the Madison Fire Department in Wisconsin for the past four years. This summer he has taken it upon himself to raise money and awareness for fallen firefighters by biking an estimated 4,400 miles across the country.

The Zanesville Fire Department announces that hydrant flushing will continue within the city Tuesday.

Flushing will take place on the west side of Frazeysburg Road from Northpointe Mall, including Gorsky Drive, Kohl's Shopping Center, Home Depot, and all side streets in the area.

Flushing will take place between 7:30am and 2:30pm. Residents in these areas may experience discolored water and reduced water pressure during these times.

The Public Safety Committee Meeting was Tuesday evening at City Hall to discuss important issues at both Zanesville police and fire departments.

Demolition continues in downtown Zanesville on a building that caught fire on Sunday.

Zanesville Fire Chief Kevin Thomas said that demolition will continue throughout Monday on the structure at 19 South 6th Street causing a portion of the roadway to remain closed.

Chief Thomas said the fire was reported around 11:30 a.m. Sunday and the vacant four story building was heavily involved with fire in several void spaces.

Fire fighters at the Zanesville Fire Department worked tirelessly to put out a structure fire on South Sixth Street on Sunday.

At approximately 11 a.m. authorities say that the fire department was dispatched to 19 South Sixth Street in reference to smoke coming from a downtown building. Once at the scene the department determined that the situation was worse than imagined.

The Zanesville Fire Department is currently on the scene of a structure fire in downtown Zanesville. Falls Township is assisting.

The fire was reported at 19 South Sixth Street. The street is closed from Main Street to South Street.

A drive by took place on Leonard Avenue in Zanesville on Saturday.

The firemen at the Zanesville Fire Department held their first annual Toys for Tots Drive By event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Locals were able to drive through the station and drop off new unwrapped toys in designated bins. Visitors also received a few special treats for their generosity.
