A day after one confirmed tornado and a second possible tornado passed through southeast Ohio, the local EMA is surveying what all happened.

Muskingum County EMA Director Bo Keck traveled to Short Road near Frazeysburg Tuesday morning to take a look at some of the damage that affected crops and one home in the area.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has confirmed an EF0 tornado struck down just northeast of Frazeysburg Monday afternoon.

EMA Director Bo Keck said the sheriff's office received multiple calls reporting a tornado at Old Riley Road and State Route 16 around 3:00 p.m. The tornado knocked a large branch onto a home at 4940 Short Road near Frazeysburg. The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency is investigating a report Monday of a tornado touchdown in Muskingum County.

  EMA Director Bo Keck says the Sheriff’s Office  received multiple calls reporting a tornado at Old Riley Road and State Route 16 around 3 p.m. 

Keck says one caller claimed you could see where the twister touched down in a field, and there are reports of a tree down and some structural damage.

June 16, 1912 - A number of unusually strong storms were occurring throughout central and southeastern Ohio that fateful Sunday morning. Reports of funnel clouds were being reported in Muskingum county around 6:30 in the morning. The storm moved right over Zanesville ten minutes later, just as Mass was beginning at St. Thomas Catholic Church on North 5th St. The congregation would later describe the event as a "great wind" that moved through the church. Local volunteers and goods donations are needed to help the victims of the Joplin, Missouri disaster.

A three mile wide tornado struck the city last Sunday, killing more than 130 people, destroying countless buildings, and leaving many people homeless.

The devastating storms that took the lives of more than 45 victims across six states over the weekend is grabbing the attention of local officials.

Governor Strickland has declared an emergency for three counties affected by last Thursday's tornadoes.

He declared emergencies in Perry, Athens and Meigs counties and identified $1.6 million available in state assistance to help victims.

Strickland also asked the U.S. Small Business Administration to issue a disaster declaration for Athens County residents to enable disaster loan assistance to help in the recovery efforts.

The sound of chainsaws fill the air here in Crooksville as families attempt to restore their homes and salvage their prized possessions.

"Just taking it a day at a time, we've got, the insurance company has been here, but we've got to get a contractor to get a bid which we have someone lined up, they just haven't gotten here yet," said Tornado Victim Ed Willison.

The Crooksville Fire Department is continuing to lend a helping hand even after the disaster.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes hit Perry County Thursday night.

An EF-1 tornado hit the Village of Crooksville with wind speeds up to 110 m.p.h.

In Somerset it was an EF-2 tornado with wind speeds between 110 and 120 m.p.h.

They will also be assessing damage in the northwest portion of Morgan County.
