The businesses and art galleries in the Masonic Temple Building in Zanesville are joining together for a trick-or-treat event this week.

It will take place Friday, October 31 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Natasha Oliver an artist in the TAC Studio said they are not doing this to compete with Zanesville's trick-or-treat on the 30th but to provide a safe, controlled atmosphere where kids are guaranteed to get the most out of trick-or-treat.

There are currently 202 registered sex offenders living in Muskingum County - and no Ohio laws keeping them from passing out candy on Halloween.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said he can't recall any reset incidents that took place in connection with Trick-or-Treat and Sex Offenders but encourages families to know their neighborhood and beware of the homes your children are visiting.

A fear of Trick-or-Treating along busy road ways and visiting stranger's homes have moved one local church to sponsor "Trunk-or-Treat."

A time when cars lined the parking lot of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Zanesville and hand out candy form their trunks.

As children prepare to visit neighbors on Halloween night, the American Red Cross offers parents some safety tips to keep their little ghosts and goblins safe on Trick-or-Treat night.

Executive Director Marlene Henderson said children need to be cautious of people they do not know, never go into a stranger's home to accept treats and only visit homes that have a porch light on.
