Christ's Table received a very special turkey donation Monday.

The National Wild Turkey Federation Coordinated the Y-Bridge Longbeards Turkey Fundraiser. Y-Bridge Longbeards National Wild Turkey Federation Committee member, Melissa Spring told us more about what goes in to collecting the funds.

"We just try to get businesses involved and this year I got some area schools involved, doing jeans day. They donated money to wear jeans at their school," said Spring.

Hunting season is in full swing in Muskingum County and experts are sharing their knowledge.

Owner of the Dillon Falls Store, Kathy McCann says that although Thanksgiving is approaching, fall turkey hunting has been on the decline, people are opting for other prey including deer and smaller animals.

During tough economic times a local group is making sure veterans have a turkey on the table.

The group, Freedom Is Yours, gave 150 turkeys away to veterans Saturday morning outside Save-A-Lot in South Zanesville. By 9 am there were more than 70 people waiting in line.
