One local veteran is honoring the passing of a fellow Medal of Honor recipient.

Ron Rosser is flying a blue Medal of Honor flag outside the front of his house for Robert Howard, who he says is the most decorated soldier in US history.

Rosser met Howard back in 1959 at the 101st Airborne in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Sunday at Philo Lutheran Church it was all about the veterans.

Frank Clifton, a former weather observer for the Air Force, says he was honored by the ceremony held Sunday morning before church services.

Veterans Day is a time for Americans to honor the men and women who have served and fought for our country, and for many veterans, it is a day of reflection.

World War II Veteran Lewis Baker was stationed in England, serving in the 8th Air Force. Applebees is offering a free meal to veterans that started at lunchtime and will continue through dinner hours.

Local communities are celebrating, honoring, and treating all our veterans today.

Summerville at north hills assisted living held a breakfast to honor those who served in the military.
The breakfast was for all veterans their families and anyone in the community who wanted to honor the vets.

In honor of Veteran's Day,  three local groups are teaming up to serve our vets and help keep them healthy.

A local organization that serves America's heroes is celebrating 80 years Saturday.

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV), chapter 12, was formed in 1929 by a group of World War I veterans. Now 80 years later the group has grown and members say they call it a second home. Dignitaries in attendance say it is important in every community to recognize veterans.
