Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton met with Muskingum County Commissioners Monday.

It was held to discuss road maintenance in Washington Township. We spoke with Mayor Tilton after the meeting this afternoon who gave us an overview.

The Washington Township Fire Department is looking for volunteers to join their team.

The department is currently having a membership drive to increase their staff numbers. The department says it takes the right kind of person to serve their community and be a part of their fire house family.

Zane State and the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department are teaming up for the fire department's membership drive.

The drive takes place from July 22nd until August 24th. The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department held its Mother's Day fundraiser on Sunday.

The event started back in 1970 and has become an annual tradition. The firefighters began prepping 1,200 BBQ chickens at 4 a.m. Chief Gene Hanning said the proceeds help with general supplies.
