The State Highway Patrol said alcohol may have been a factor in an accident Saturday evening.

Trooper Stephen Williams said the driver of a Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Old Wheeling Road when he clipped an underground phone line and a private gas well before crashing into a utility pole.

"The driver was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center for medical treatment, and we do believe that alcohol was a factor in this crash," said Williams.

Mother's Day means one thing for the Washington Township Firehouse...

The department hosted its annual Mother's Day Barbecue Dinner Sunday. Fire Chief Gene Hanning said people stood in line an hour before the doors opened.

"We always have a really good turnout, good support from our community. Right now, it's looking like it's going to be a sellout. We have about 1200 dinners and so probably within the next hour, those will be sold out," said Hanning.

A larger crowd than anticipated came out Saturday afternoon to support a local fire department.

Saturday was the 5th annual Car Show sponsored by the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department. President, Adam Siddle said, this year had a lager turn out than in years past with 63 cars taking part in the event.

If you're a car show enthusiast and looking for something to do this weekend, look no further than the Washington Township Fire Department.

Taking mom out for Mother's Day this Sunday is as close as your local firehouse.

Since the 1970's the Washington Township Fire Department has held their chicken barbeque. Rain or shine the firefighters will light up the fire pit in the wee hours of the morning in order to start cooking the chicken.

Fire severely damages a home in Washington Township Wednesday night.

The mobile home at 325 North Pleasant Grove Road sits just behind Goff Trucking. It caught fire around 9:30 p.m.

According to the Washington Township Fire Department, one person was inside at the time of the fire, but they were able to get out and appear to be uninjured.

Firefighters on the scene say the damage to the home was contained mainly to the inside of the home and it's likely a total loss....

A man is left homeless Monday evening after a fire in Washington Township.

According to Washington Township Fire Chief Gene Hanning, the homeowner came home from work to find house at 3145 Lisa Lane ablaze. Upon arrival Hanning says firefighters found the living room on the second floor was on fire, leaving it heavily damaged and the rest of the house smoky. Hanning says Red Cross assistance wasn't needed, and instead the homeowner will be staying with family.

An accident on Interstate 70 shuts down both Westbound lanes for almost a half hour, and sends one woman to the hospital.

It happened around 6 p.m shortly before the Adamsville exit. Trooper Adam Mckenzie of the State Highway Patrol says a white Mazda with New Jersey plates was traveling West on the interstate.
