Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton tells WHIZ News that traffic is reduced to one lane north and southbound on Maple Avenue after a serious water main break.

The break occurred in front of Burger King on Maple Avenue Sunday morning.

Crews are on the scene working on the broken line.

No word of any boil advisories that have been issued as a result.

Some north-end Zanesville water customers will lose service starting at 11 a.m. Thursday due to a water main break and won’t have water service until the work in complete.  No time estimate was given.  The City says if you live on the following roads your service will be disrupted:

Dresden Road from Military Road to Moore Ave
East Highland Drive
West Highland Drive
West Willow Drive
East Willow Drive
North Willow Drive
Sebaugh Drive

A water main break is disrupting traffic on Maple Avenue near Donald's Donuts.

One of the northbound lanes is closed between Wabash and Princeton Avenues.  City water crews have been on the scene since about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Maintenance worker Chad Waltz said it should take several hours to dig up the road and repair the break.

No boil advisories have been issued so far.

A water main break is causing a traffic jam on Maple Avenue in Zanesville.

Ted Stevens of the Zanesville Water Department said the right lane of Maple Avenue is closed heading northbound near Bryan & Snider Funeral Home.

Stevens said drivers are being directed to Taylor Street as an alternate route.  He said he's unsure when the lane will reopen, but a crew is on the scene trying to fix the problem.

The water main break in downtown Zanesville has been fixed, but the downtown span of the Y-Bridge will likely stay closed to traffic until Friday. Zanesville Water Department officials say a 12 inch pipe broke under Main Street on Tuesday and forced the closing of the road from the Y-bridge to Third Street. The mild weather is responsible for fewer water main breaks over the past few months, but the Zanesville Water Department is dealing with a major one.

Superintendent Paul Mills said a water main break has closed Main Street from the y-bridge to Third Street in downtown Zanesville.  He said a section of a 12 inch pipe broke under the roadway.  Public Service Director Mike Sims said the city hasn't had to fix many water main breaks so far this winter.

A Water main break has closed Main Street  from the Y-Bridge to 3rd Street in downtown Zanesville.

According to Paul Mills of the City Water Department, a section of 12 inch pipe broke underneath of the roadway. 

Mills said that tests are being done at the new water plant, but crews on the scene of the water main break tell WHIZ that no boil advisory has been issued.

If you live east of the Muskingum River, you likely woke-up to little or no water service Friday morning.

Muskingum County Water Department Manager Don Madden said shortly before 5 a.m. residents began reporting low water pressure. Just after sunrise a 12-inch water main break was located near the Airport Industrial Park. Madden said the line effects a large number of east Muskingum County residents.

School Officials say National Road Elementary School with be closing today due to a water main break. Parents and guardians need to pick up students who may already be at the building.

Due to a water main break, a boil advisory has been issued for the Village of New Concord.

Officials of  The Village of New Concord Water Department are currently working to repair the water main break. Residents north of Glenn School Road in New Concord are advised to boil their water.

The advisory will remain in effect until Thursday evening at 5:00 pm.
