The Wayne Township Fire Department held its annual car show Sept. 6.

More than 200 cars were on display. Everything from 50's style mobiles to new modified wagons were in the running to be awarded best in show. The fire department also had raffles and a concession stand and all the funds raised will benefit the local department.

The Masonic Temple in Duncan Falls honored area volunteer firefighters at a special dinner Sunday evening. 

According to Worthy Matron of the Order of Easteren Star, Valerie Norman, the dinner is the Masonic Temple and the Order of Eastern Star's way to give thanks to the community and to volunteer firemen. She said sometimes they don't get a thanks for the job they do each day.

A fire this afternoon in Philo injured an area man.

It happened at 210 3rd street just before 2:00PM. A neighbor who witnessed the fire said they saw smoke coming out of the home's kitchen window. Harrison Township Assisstant Fire Chief Terry Moore says the fire started in the bathroom of the home, when a curling iron was left on and it caught some clothes on fire. A funeral was held on Tuesday for a Wayne Township Fire Fighter who had been with the department for nearly 60 years.

Walter "Woody" Woodruff Jr., 91 of Duncan Falls was laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery. Woodruff held many titles including Lieutenant, Assistant Chief and the unofficial handy man for the station.

The Wayne Township Fire Department hosted its 20th Annual Antique and Classic Car, Bike and Truck Show on Sunday.

More than 160 cars filled the Sam Hatfield Stadium in Duncan Falls for the big event. Each participant had to pay $6 to register their car and all the money raised went right back to the fire department.

Firefighters in Harrison Township battle a structure fire in Philo.

The fire began just after 5 a.m. Wednesday at a vacant trailer.

The trailer is located at 628 5th Street.

Wayne Township Fire Department was also called in to assist.

An overnight fire in Muskingum County destroys a home. 

Wayne Township Fire Chief Don Alexander said it happened just before 2:30 Friday morning at 8090 South River Road. 

The Chief says when his crews arrived on the scene part of a double-wide modular home was fully involved in flames.

 Alexander said the fire appears to have started as a result of some electrical wiring near a computer.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office reports that fire crews from Wayne and Harrison Townships are battling a structure fire in Gaysport, Friday morning.

Not many details are known at this time. The fire was reported to the sheriff's office around 2:45 a.m.

Firefighters from multiple departments and some helpful neighbors spent hours battling a barn blaze Tuesday afternoon in Salt Creek Township.

A fire started in the barn of Carl Longstreth at 4140 Salt Creek Drive around 4 p.m.

The 17th Annual Antique and Classic Automobile/Truck/Bike Show was held this afternoon at Sam Hatfield Stadium in Duncan Falls. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department.
