An area high school is planning an anniversary celebration.

West Muskingum will turn fifty this fall and the school would like to honor anyone who has played, coached or cheered from 1962 all the way to 2012. Committee member Jim Maniaci hopes this celebration will bring together as many alumni as possible.

Its been three years since the West Muskingum Tornadoes last tasted post season success and the top half of the MVL standings, but back to back lean seasons have made the blue and gold even more hungry for success and that's one of the things that is driving the 2012 team to be even better than in years past.

For the second consecutive week, Haley Gregory of John Glenn was one of the best athletes participating in a track meet. This time she showed her skills to all of Region 7 enroute to totaling 32.5 of the Muskies' 49 points at the meet. With that number the Fish were able to finish second in the overall team standings behind West Holmes who finished first.

The track and field athletes in the Muskingum Valley League couldn't have asked for a more picturesque night to compete in the league championships. A nice night lead to a considerable amount of records falling in several events.

On the girls side, the Sheridan girls broke a record in the first event of the night, the 3200M Relay. Those girls didn't just break the record, they shattered it by 17 seconds. Sheridan senior thrower Sarah Clow set the girl's shotput...

Another local product is getting a chance to play a sport at the next level. After much deliberation, West Muskingum's Stephanie Imes has made her choice: deciding to stay (somewhat) local and play for Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Imes fielded several offers during the process, but the prospect of playing so close to home ultimately factored heavily in her decision.
