Although the city is plowing the roads, chances are you had to dig your car out of the snow this morning. We caught up with a few Zanesville residents who did just that.

For those feeling cooped up in this winter weather there's a place of escape.

The Muskingum County Library System said during snow days they see an influx of patrons into their buildings. Most are families looking for entertainment in the form of DVDs or kids taking time to place with the puzzles. They're also borrowing books.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is gearing up for the second round of winter weather.

Transportation Administrator for Muskingum County, Phil Valentine says that he is unsure if the next few days will be filled with snow, rain or ice, but his crews are getting machinery ready to keep county roads salted and as dry as possible.

The weather is finally improving and people in our area took advantage of warmer temperatures by getting their vehicles washed.

Owner of Soft Cloth Car Wash on Maple Avenue, John Thomas says that his crews were constantly working throughout the morning and afternoon.

Zanesville City Street crews had their hands full dealing with this weekend blast of winter.

Street Superintendent, Jeff Shook says that his 13 man team alternates days and nights to plow and salt the roads.. He says they have a plan of action and follows it to ensure the highest amount of safety for the largest amount of Zanesville residents.

The dangerously cold temperatures can be a serious threat to your health.

Medical Director at the Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department, Dr. Vicki Whitacre says that already this January two people have been sent to the hospital with cases of frostbite and hypothermia. She suggests dressing appropriately while battling the frigid conditions.

The staff at the Do-It Center is helping the public stay warm during the drafty season with winter weather suggestions.

Shift Supervisor, Dayle Bailey says the number of walk in customers has increased in the last two days due to the extremely cold temperatures and high levels of snow. He says on Sunday they have sold more than a half a ton of salt. Other items flying off the shelves includes anything that aides in fighting the chilly weather.

Ohio Department of Transpiration crews gear up for another set of long hours as snow once again dominates the forecast.

Starting at midnight 16 to 20 crews per shift will take to the roads working to keep traffic moving. The frigid temperatures make fighting this storm different then others.

The ER at Genesis Good Samaritan is reporting cases of frostbite.

Although emergency rooms actually see fewer patients during extreme weather, Director of Trauma and Emergency at Good Samaritan, David Davis, said there have been several people admitted to the ER with weather-related health problems.

While most of us spend only minutes outside in this weather, first responders are required to stay until the job is finished. For the Zanesville Fire Department, they make sure to take the proper precautions to avoid slipping, getting hypothermia or getting over exhausted.
