Winter weather slows down the morning commute.

Snow started falling around Southeastern Ohio around 6:30a.m. Wednesday morning, causing cars to slip and slide along the roadways. Since the winter system hit later in the morning many school buses were already out on the roadways.

"We didn't have any problems whatsoever," said Coordinator of Operations Kevin Appleman. "Sometimes when it snows or rains hard people panic a little bit, but we're not going to put anyone...

Old man winter has arrived in Zanesville and the rest of Ohio. The predicted mixture of sleet, freezing rain and snow arrived in our area just as predicted by WHIZ Chief Meteorologist Wesley Sass. Area roads are covered with a layer of sleet, some snow and freezing rain and that means it is slick. There is some traction for drivers due to the layer of sleet but driving is at best hazardous. The Ohio Department of Transpiration along with Zanesville and Muskingum County crews are working on...

That first dusting of snow we saw on Saturday is a reminder to drive carefully in winter weather.

Trooper Stephen Williams said the State Highway Patrol responded to three car crashes on Interstate 70 on Saturday night that were caused by icy bridges.  He said sometimes drivers forget that bridges and ramps freeze before roadways.

"Secondary roads like county roads and township roads are going to be iced up, and when we have snowfall, they're going to be the second...

Winter weather is causing more than a few cars to slip and slide on area roadways and in some cases crash.

And if your car is damaged due to an accident that's where a collision repair shop comes to the rescue. Each week Southside Collision can see between 15-20 cars, which believe it or not is slow for the winter time.

The shop's manager said most of the damage they see comes from cars being rear ended or sliding off the roadways. The average repair could take 3-4 weeks and cost...

Winter has left a grimy gritty feeling on many throughout the area.

It's not different with vehicles that are caked with a covering of salt left behind by attempts to clear winter's mess from roadways and that can cause damage to your vehicle in a matter of days.

"As salt interacts with water it becomes corrosive and that can eat through your clear coat the protective covering that's over your paint," explained Squiggly's Car Wash Owner Larry Cordial. "Even worse...

We may only be seeing light snow showers this weekend, but it won't be too long before heavier snow storms head our way.

When preparing for weather the Red Cross takes a proactive approach to be prepared for any emergency. The Red Cross said the biggest mistake people make is not keeping an eye on the weather.

"They all rush out to the stores so they can get food, salt and shovels, but the big thing is that people don't pay attention to the weather reports and it's that time...

The State Highway Patrol spent Thursday morning catching up on paperwork from traffic accidents caused by the winter weather.

In total Lt. Steven Rine of the Zanesville Post said they covered ten accidents Wednesday and two Thursday morning.

While many may realize to slow down when they see snow, what you can't see may be worse and that causes some very slippery conditions.

"Let's say the air temperature drops, concrete and pavement will drop a lot quicker than the...
