With the quick dump of some soil and the digging in of flowers, the Y-Bridge has a new look this week.

The Muskingum Valley Garden Society and gardeners from Timber Run Gardens circled the bridge Tuesday to plant flowers in all 17 pots on it. This isn't the only time the group will be sprinkled around town.

One area man wants to give Zanesville a place to learn about the past.

Gary Allen said there is a lot of rich history in Zanesville that people may not think about. It's the second state capitol and home to the only y-bridge in the nation. Allen wants to open the Zanesville Historical Museum on the Muskingum River.

Zanesville celebrated the birthday of a monumental landmark today.

The Y-Bridge in downtown Zanesville had it's 200th birthday celebration this afternoon at the Muskingum County welcome center. Community development director Jay Bennett says the main focus of today's celebration is understanding the history and significance of the Y-Bridge.

Two Newark women were sent to the hospital following an accident near the Y-Bridge Monday afternoon.

According to police, the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when a Chevy Lumina that was heading toward the Y-Bridge on West Main Street went off the left side of the roadway, through a grass field at a high rate of speed, and crashed over the emankment of the river.  The vehicle flipped several times before coming to rest right beside the river.

Zanesville's famous Y-Bridge is celebrating a major milestone this year.

The City of Zanesville said Linden Avenue will remain closed on the southbound lane and open on the northbound lane from Lee Street to West Main Street until Friday, June 27, while repair work is done to a wall in the area.

The Department of Public Service announced the underpass lane will be closed to all traffic while work is completed. A wall near the railroad underpass on Linden Avenue suffered damage, after a vehicle crashed into it.

Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton says the Linden Avenue span of the Y-Bridge is closed while some repair work is done to a wall damaged in an accident. 

Tilton says the south bound lane of Linden Avenue is closed from Lee Street to West Main so crews can repair a wall that suffered damage after a vehicle crashed into it at the railroad underpass.
