People of all ages were seen racing in their Halloween costumes at Zane State College this afternoon.

The physical therapy assistant club at Zane State hosted its first annual Halloween costume 5k run/walk today. A donation of $10 for adults and $5 for kids got you registered for the race. President of the physical therapist assistant club, Amanda Hite explains that all the proceeds went to support Miracles in Motion.

Theresa Flores was a victim of human trafficking from the age of 15 to 17. Tuesday evening she spoke at Zane State College about her experience.

Along with her personal story, Flores focused on what exactly human trafficking is, the red flags of trafficking, and solutions for the problem. Flores tells us that she is working to spread awareness about this issue.

There is a new maroon flag at Zane State College Monday.

At a dedication this morning Zane State received an official Muskingum County flag. The Advanced Science and Technology Center sits on the same site that the county home once did. Members of the county home helped to create the design for the flag. The college's President, Dr. Paul Brown is happy to have the flag back on such an historic site for the county.

For the past 11 years Dr. Paul Brown has been the President of Zane State College, but in just nine short months he will be retiring.

Dr. Brown says that part of the mission of Zane State is to develop the region. Through his long involvement with the school he has become involved in the development of a project that would reinvest resources into the redevelopment of our region, which he sited as his reasoning behind the announcement of his retirement.

State funding for Ohio's two and four year colleges are now tied 100% to graduation rates and course completion.

The Inter-University Council of Ohio collaborated with the Ohio Association of Community Colleges to create the new framework for the funding. Dr. Paul Brown, President of Zane State College, worked on the new distribution plan and feels that it will transform the education system in Ohio.

With college courses beginning in just a couple of weeks, Zane State College wants to make sure students are registered for all the classes they need this semester.

The college is hosting what they call "Flash Registration" from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. this Thursday at the Cambridge campus.  They will also be hosting one at the Zanesville campus this Friday, again from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A flag created for Muskingum County by residents from Muskingum County is returning to the site where it was designed.

Residents from the Muskingum County Home created the flag several years ago.  It was once flown at the Ohio Statehouse with the flags from Ohio's other 87 counties.  On Monday, former superintendent of the county home, Rebecca Cooper, went to the Muskingum County Commissioners with a request.

Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College held an active shooter drill on their campuses Friday.

The safety event brought together observers and 10 different emergency agencies from across the area. Director of Public Safety, Bethany Hayes says that training like this is incredibly relevant in todays day and age.

Area ladies tee'd it up Monday afternoon to help female students receive an education.

Fourteen teams of women took part in the 6th annual Afternoon Tee--Drive for Women's Golf Outing. The money raised from the event will help fund scholarships for ladies at Zane State College.
