The Rotary Club of Zanesville Daybreak honored the Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self" Saturday.

Rotarians rang those familiar bells for the Salvation Army's red kettle campaign. Daybreak's President Doug Waltman says club members donated their time at Kroger today to help The Salvation Army.

During the holiday season if you find yourself on 5th and Main you will notice some beautiful decorative greenery. What you may not know, is where these cheerful decorations came from.

Once a year, the 59 rotary clubs in southeastern Ohio will receive a visit from the District Governor, who will critique the various clubs for the coming year of service.

This year's governor for district 66-90 is Bart Mahoney. The governor is a liaison between Rotary International and all the clubs within the district and their presidents. Those traveling into the downtown will see a beautiful site once work is complete.

The John McIntire Library recently removed some trees on the 5th Street side of the building that were over 20 years old. The trees were sick and others dead. The removal left the library in need of landscaping for the space. Thanks to the Daybreak Rotary the area is changing.

The organization presented the library with a $2,000 grant.

Zanesville Daybreak Rotary is working to inspire a new generation of Rotarians.

A new charter was presented to Rotaract members at the Zane State/Ohio University Zanesville Campus Wednesday.

District Chairman Tom Carlisi said there are 10 Rotaract clubs in the district, including Zane State and OU-Z.

He said there are over 1,000,000 Rotarians looking to make a difference both locally and around the world.
