The Zanesville Downtown Association is helping out the small businesses in town.

Following black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year, is small business Saturday, celebrated annually on the Saturday after Thanksgivng. Dana Matz, Membership Director of the Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce said, Small business Saturday was started by American Express several years ago to remind shoppers to shop small during the holiday season.

If you are interested in preserving the city you call home, there's an organization to help you do just that.

The Zanesville Downtown Association is currently calling for members. The mission of the group is to oversee the revitalization of downtown Zanesville.

" We are a government liaison, so we work with the city and the county and state folks to make improvements to our downtown businesses as well. We also do a lot of real estate, " said ZDA Manager, Dana Matz.

The Zanesville Downtown Association is opening up membership to anyone who lives in the Zanesville-Muskingum County area. Memberships start at 30-dollars to 100-dollars. The association has a board that meets quarterly to discuss needed improvements, construction updates and safety issues.

The Zanesville Downtown Association manager has a new job description - and title.

Dana Matz was recently promoted to Member Services Director of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce. Matz said his new position comes with many new responsibilities, but he is fortunate, and ready for the challenge.

The Gus Macker basketball tournament may have been canceled, but the Zanesville Downtown Association is sponsoring another fundraiser to help recover some costs.

The ZDA is selling limited edition prints of the Muskingum County Courthouse by artist Mary Ann Bucci.  Manager Dana Matz said the print highlights the artistic talent of the Zanesville community.

The Gus Macker basketball tournament was canceled, but a new fundraiser is supporting the Zanesville Downtown Association.

Tickets for an upcoming raffle will be sold at the welcome center, the farmer's market and businesses in Zanesville.  Downtown Association manager Dana Matz said the prizes are worth bragging about.

About 200 artists and musicians are getting ready to showcase their talents in front of a big crowd.

The Gus Macker three on three basketball tournament in Zanesville has a new sponsor and a new location.

The Zanesville Downtown Association is transferring operations of the tournament over to the Zanesville Little Devils Football Program and the tournament will be held at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.
