 The Zanesville Fire Department is investigating a natural gas leak on the north end of Zanesville. 

The call came in just before noon Wednesday that a construction crew working in the area of Northpointe and Colony Hills struck a gas line. Crews were able to find the leak and shut off the gas without incident..

Zanesville Fire Department will flush more hydrants on the north end of town Thursday, June 6.

Hydrant flushing will take place north of Taylor Street. That includes Bell Street, Center Drive around Bethesda Hospital and all adjoining streets. Flushing will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Residents in these areas may experience discolored water and reduced pressure. It's advised to wait until after 4 p.m. for the water to clear before doing laundry.

After 26 years as a Zanesville Firefighter one man is ready to close that chapter of his life.

Bill Spragg is ready to go fishing and spend more time with his wife now that he retired. He says that the bonds he built at the station were like a second family. Spragg says he had some of the best and worst memories of his life at the station.

The Zanesville Fire Department will continue flushing hydrants on the north end of town Wednesday.

Hydrant flushing will take place on streets south of Taylor, north of Adair and west of Maple Avenue. This will include Ohio University Zanesville-Zane State, Adams Lane and Blue Avenue.

Flushing will be from 7:30-2:30 p.m. Residents in these areas may experience discolored water and reduced pressure.

 The Zanesville Fire Department's hydrant flushing will pick up again on Monday. 

Hydrant flushing will take place on streets east of Maple Avenue. This includes Taylor, Norwood, Euclid, Sheridan and adjoining streets. 

Flushing will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

Residents in these areas may experience discolored water and reduced pressure. It's advised to wait until after 4 p.m. for the water to clear before doing laundry.

The Zanesville Fire Department will flush hydrants beginning Wednesday, May 29 in several areas.

The department reports they'll flushing hydrants on Muskingum, Woodlawn, Putnam and Moxahala and all adjoining streets.

Flushing will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Residents in the area may experience discolored water and reduced pressure.

It's advised to wait until after 4p.m.

 The Zanesville Fire Department continues to work to flush hydrants throughout the city. 

Thursday, May 23 the department will flush hydrants on Brighton Boulevard, Ridge Avenue, Dryden Road and along adjoining streets. The flushing will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Residents in these areas may experience discolored water and reduced pressure. It's advised to wait until after 4:00 p.m. for the water to clear, before doing laundry.

The annual fundraiser benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association, an organization dedicated to helping people who suffer from neuromuscular diseases. The money raised also gives kids the opportunity to go to camp, have wheelchairs and any other changes they might need in the home.

Fire Chief Kevin Thomas announced that they have filled the two open spots, bringing their total to 52 fire fighters.

"We've just brought two new members on to our fire department. Brady Bragg started in orientation period two weeks ago and today is his first full day on shift. Ben Morehouse, today is his first day and Monday he'll be starting at the state fire academy," said Fire Chief, Kevin Thomas.

The Zanesville Fire Department will be flushing the hydrants around Zanesville for the next few days.

Starting tomorrow, from 7:30 a.m.. to 2:30 p.m.., ZFD will be focusing on the east end of Zanesville. From the water treatment plant, down by Underwood, and north of Greenwood Avenue.

"And then on the next day we will be working south of Greenwood and then east of Pine Street and then on the next Monday we will downtown and that will finish up everything east of those those...
