The annual Stars and Stripes on the River event at Zane's Landing Park was at an all time high this afternoon.

Families stretching from Zanesville to Newark came out to enjoy the day. Newark Resident, Ryan Armstrong began coming to the event when he was about 12 years-old, and continues to come each year with his three brothers and step-dad. He said, it's a chance to spend time together.

The Fourth of July weekend officially kicked off in Zanesville today.

The annual Starts and Stripes on the River event began setting up Sunday afternoon and came to life that evening. The day has been sponsored by the Zanesville Jaycees for about fifteen years and brings out about a thousand people to Zane's Landing Park each year. Jaycee President, Shawn Antritt said, today's band, carnival rides, and vendors are only the beginning of their weekend plans.

The Zanesville Jaycee's hope to make the 4th of July one of patriotic pride for our area.

The organization will again host Stars and Stripes on the River at Zane's Landing Park, July 3rd and 4th. The even features bands both days, food concessions, a carnival and of course the main attraction fireworks on the 4th.

Zane's landing park filled up fast this afternoon.

Bikes rolled in as the Memorial Weekend got underway. The Zanesville Jaycees hosted an evening of food, drinks and entertainment for the public.

The Zanesville Jaycees are helping local residents have some fun this Memorial Day weekend.

While Zane's Landing Park may look empty now, Saturday, it'll be crowded with activity. For the third year the Jaycees will host their Memorial Weekend Poker Run.

Five area teens receive some help in pursuing their post high school dreams.

The Zanesville Jaycees awarded five $750 scholarships to recent graduates. Jaycees President, David Mortimer says that involvement in the community and excellence in the classroom is what sets these recipients apart.
