Ann Moorehead is retiring Friday after 30 years. Her role included clearing housing permits and licenses as well as water well and sewage permits, but to her colleagues turned friends, she is so much more than that.

Recently the Ohio Department of Health alerted local health officials that due to state budget cuts, they will no longer be testing various insects for potential diseases.

This poses a potential prevention problem for a rural and wooded areas, such as Muskingum County, where three types of ticks can be found. Today the 2013 County Health Rankings for the state of Ohio were released and Muskingum County is not doing well.

Out of the 88 counties in the state, Muskingum was ranked 73rd for overall health outcomes and 59th for the health factors. The health factors are the actions that lead to the end outcome such as obesity, smoking or sexual transmitted diseases.

Those in Southeastern Ohio who don't have vision insurance can still take care of their eyes through a new program.
