Halloween is starting to creep up, and besides worrying about the best costume to wear, it's also important to try to be as safe as possible.

The Zanesville Police Department is gearing up to ensure that everyone is not only having a great time but, the kids are safe while trick-or-treating. We spoke with Captain Tony Coury, and he emphasized how important it is to take proper caution on Halloween night.

A shooting at a downtown Zanesville motel leaves one person injured.

It happened around 12:30 Wednesday morning at the Travel Inn on 6th Street.

Zanesville Police Detective Sgt. Harry Taylor said two black males forced their way into a room being occupied by two Columbus residents. He said one of the intruders shot and struck one of the occupants.

The victim is identified as 20-year-old Rashud Williams.

The Zanesville Police Department said they have arrested five females and two males in an undercover prostitution sting.

Captain Tony Coury said that the sting done in conjunction with the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office and Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force took place in downtown Zanesville in the areas of West Main Street, Luck and Ridge Avenues and Brighton Boulevard.

Neighbors in one Zanesville apartment building are shaken-up after a break-in Friday evening.

Around 8 p.m., those living at 1033 Sunset Drive heard the door to Apartment # 3 get kicked-in.

"We were called to the apartment complex in reference to a loud bang that the neighbors reported. They saw three, juvenile, males running away with hooded sweatshirts on, with the hoods tightly around their faces," says Sgt. Chris Phipps with the Zanesville Police...
