A Zanesville trailer home is destroyed in a fire Tuesday evening.

Firefighters were called to the home of Judy Wickham at 436 Pine Street Lot number 10 around 7:30 p.m.

"When we arrived we found a trailer toward the rear of the trailer park totally involved in flames," says Kevin Thomas, Assistant Fire Chief Zanesville Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and the Zanesville Police Department is questioning people.

Four people are being detained for questioning as the Zanesville Police Department investigates a dead body discovered at the Econo Lodge on 7th Street.

According to Lt. Tony Coury, around 4:15 Thursday afternoon officers were called to the motel when a report was made about a man being combative toward the clerk. Upon officers arrival they discovered the man was upset, because his 33-year-old girlfriend was dead in room 103.

It may seem there has been an unusual amount of shootings in the Zanesville area recently...But police say, it may not be as uncommon as it appears.

Zanesville Police Officers have been dispatched to a number of shootings in recent weeks. Chief, Eric Lambes, said, the increase isn't exclusive to Zanesville, and that Columbus has also been dealing with an unusual amount of gun fire. He said, these incidents are often times drug related, but in many cases, weather related.

The Zanesville Police Department is investigating a report of a shot fired during a dispute Monday evening.

According to Lt. Tony Coury, officers were called to 254 Gray Street around 7:30 p.m. Coury says there was an argument at the home where the suspect fired a shot into the air and then fled the scene on foot.

He says officers know the identity of the man and are searching for him at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

The Zanesville Police Department is searching for information on a possible shooting victim Wednesday night.

According to Lt. Bill Shaw, shortly after 11 p.m. police received a call of shots fired in the area of Spangler Drive and Owens Street. Lt. Shaw says witnesses reported seeing a person falling and then others helping that person into a dark colored vehicle.

Two women are taken to the hospital after being struck by an SUV.

It happened around 9:15 Friday evening on West Main Street in Zanesville.

According to Officer Tom Porter with the Zanesville Police Department, the women appeared to be leaving the M.A.S.S. Bingo Hall when they used the crosswalk to cross West Main Street. Officer Porter says a female driver in a Jeep Liberty was traveling eastbound and struck the two women while they were in the crosswalk.

An accident Friday evening sent authorities on the search for the vehicles' driver.

It happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. in the 100-block of Mead Street.

According to Sgt. Chris Phipps with the Zanesville Police Department, a Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading north on Mead at a high rate of speed when it hit a power pole. The crash brought the pole and power lines down on the Jeep. It also caused a transformer on a neighboring street to catch fire.

After thirty years with the Zanesville Police Department, Captain Mike Baker is handing in his badge and retiring from the department.

Baker has been captain with the department for 18 years. Prior to that he was a sergeant for a total of 30 years. He says it's been with great pride being able to help serve the Zanesville community.

A man charged in connection with a December gas station robbery went before Judge Fleegle Monday morning.

Teddie Hunter was in court for a competency hearing where the court found that he was competent to stand trial.

Zanesville Police Detective Sgt. Ric Roush said that the 35-year-old robbed the Speedway Gas station at 930 Blue Avenue and made motions and gestures referring to having a handgun while demanding cash from the female clerk.

A Zanesville man is sentenced to one count of Burglary Monday morning.

50-year-old Charles Hamilton plead guilty to the count in January.

Monday he was sentenced to 16 months in prison in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court by Judge Mark Fleegle.

Zanesville Police said Hamilton was arrested in June 2010 after officers said he went through several parked cars in the downtown area and took a lawn mower.
