It's been over three decades since the Zanesville Police Department has gotten a different color uniform, but that changed Wednesday.

The police department rolled out its new, dark blue uniforms Wednesday morning. Captain Tony Coury said the officers wanted a change. Night officers wanted the new uniforms to be able to blend in a little better and the dark uniforms are also cheaper.

Car Crashes Into Building

ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) - Zanesville Police say two people were injured, one seriously, after a car went out of control striking two other vehicles before slamming into the Cash Max and Little Caesars building on Maple Avenue Thursday morning. Zanesville Police investigate the robbery of a local gas station. 

Lt. Chris Phipps said the incident happened at the BP Gas Station at Maple and Forest Avenues just after midnight Wednesday. 

Phipps said not much information is being released at this time, but two people are in custody.

For the second time in three weeks a driver made way onto the wrong side of Interstate 70 in Zanesville.

Around 7:45 Wednesday morning the Zanesville Police Department received numerous calls reporting that an elderly man was heading east in the westbound lanes of I-70.

The Zanesville Police Department says business and 911 lines are back up and running.

The department lost all phone service after an accident that occurred around 11:00 a.m. Thursday. EMA Director Bo Keck said a Columbia Gas Company crew was doing some work and accidentally severed all phone lines to the Zanesville Police Department, including 911.

The Zanesville Police Department responded to an injury accident around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon. 

According to the ZPD multiple people have been transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment after an apparent head on collision. A green Trailblazer and a black Equinox were the only cars involved in the accident at the intersection of State and Jackson Streets. A driver running from authorities flipped his car earlier Tuesday evening in front of Zane State College.

The incident happened around 6:08 p.m. as an officer from the Zanesville Police Deparmtent attempted to pull over a driver with expired plates. Police said they had been watching the vehicle and attempted to pull it over as it left a residence. The driver did not comply with officers and began to flee out of town toward Dillon State Park on State Route 146.

A call for a 3 car injury accident was reported at 6:30PM Saturday evening.

According to SGT. Jon McCoy of the Zanesville Police Department, a dark colored Jeep in the left turn lane of Maple Avenue, attempted to make a left hand turn from northbound Maple onto Brandywine Boulevard. The Jeep turned in front of a red truck which then struck a silver 4 door sedan.

McCoy said two people were injured and transported. One female driving the Jeep and a male driving the truck...
