Zanesville Police investigate an early morning shooting in the city.

Captain Doug Merry says around 4 a.m. Friday,  they received a call that a man had been shot in the Abington Avenue area.

He says the victim's car broke down on Sharon Avenue and he walked to his brothers house.

Zanesville Police are on the scene of a one vehicle accident Wednesday morning.

The accident happened minutes before 7 a.m. on the Maple Avenue on ramp to Interstate 70 going eastbound.

One car was reported on its side. At least one person was reported to be out of the vehicle.

With the start of a new school year, the Zanesville Police Department is advising drivers to watch for changed speed limits, students crossing crosswalks and school buses. The Zanesville Police Department announced Wednesday afternoon, it caught the main suspect in the murder of 24 year old, Phillip Kimbro Jr.

There's little information being shared about an investigation into a burned body found last week in Morgan County.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office said the body of 24-year-old Phillip Kimbro Jr was found Thursday, July 25. Tuesday a home on Ayers Street in Zanesville was raided in connection to the investigation into his death.

A 12-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle on Maple Avenue Thursday evening.

According to Zanesville Police Officer Joel Tignor, the female along with another juvenile female, an adult female and adult male were attempting to cross Maple Avenue near Rally's around 6 p.m. this evening. They were standing in the median preparing to cross when the 12-year old bolted into the northbound lanes and was struck by a Ford Expedition.

A Zanesville man has been charged in connection with a drive by shooting that happened earlier this week.

23 year old, Mark Smart of Keen Street is accused of shooting into a crowd of five people at a home on Jackson Street, Monday night. Police say a male was struck in the chest by one of the bullets.

Zanesville Police say a 23-year-old man suffered injuries from a shooting last night.

Captain Tony Coury says, that the incident took place during the evening hours Monday at 819 Jackson Street. Several people were outside the residence when a vehicle drove up and an occupant fired several gunshots at the group.

A former Zanesville Police Officer has passed away.

66-year-old Gregory Fisher died Saturday morning surrounded by family. Fisher was a 1965 graduate of Zanesville High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and then joined the Zanesville Police Department in 1972, serving until 1993.

Funeral arrangements are being held by the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral home. Calling hours for friends and family are from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1p.m....
