The Festival of Trees is a holiday tradition for many in the city of Zanesville and Muskingum County.

The event kicks-off December 1st in conjunction with the Miracle on Main Street event, but the count is down slightly this year by about 40 trees.

"This is typical. We get a big huge rush toward the end of the deadline, and we always extend the deadline," says Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce Vice President, Kelly Ashby.

The deadline has been...

Time may be running out to visit one of Zanesville's best kept secrets.

The Zane Trace National Model Railroad Club held its annual open house Saturday afternoon. The public was invited to explore the intricate railroad track that takes up the entire third floor of the Old Business Equipment Building in the downtown area.

"It's a fictitious railroad from Zanesville to Charleston West Virginia, none exist but this is kind of how we came up with the plan everybody likes...

The Zanesville Blue Devils (8-1) enter the final contest of the 2010 season in familiar shoes.

Like last year, when ZHS missed out on the OHSAA playoffs after a 9-1 finish, a win Friday over Western Brown (6-3) does not guarantee the Red, White, and Blue a spot in the postseason.

As Zanesville City officials look toward 2011, they are faced with a significant shortfall in the city budget. In a meeting, the budget committee discussed various options.

The projected shortfall for 2011 is approximately $930,000. This means that the current budget cuts for 2010 would carry into 2011.

"That also assumes that all our current vacancies which we haven't filled and we're not going to fill for next year, even with that, we're still $930,000 short," says...
