The Zanesville City Schools Board of Education introduced its new superintendent Wednesday.

Doug Baker has been approved as the new superintendent, effective August 1. Baker comes to Zanesville from New Philadelphia, where he held the position of Assistant Superintendent of New Philadelphia City Schools.

The students in the Zanesville City School District have cleaner air to breathe due to an EPA grant recently received.

As a part of the Ohio EPA's Clean Diesel School Grant Program the district received just over $60,000 to install the needed pollution control devices on 21 school buses.

"What the benefit for the school district is it helps us save money. Our buses have less idle time so it helps us save fuel and also in the morning we do not have to have them plugged in...

The Mid-East Board of Education begins talks of leasing a school building from Zanesville City Schools.

Because Mid-East will undergo around 47 million dollars in renovations beginning with its adult education building in the fall, the 40,000 square foot Rufus Putnam building on Moxahala Avenue owned by Zanesville City Schools could soon become the temporary adult education building for Mid-East.
