Flu activity is on the rise in Ohio and the Ohio Department of Health is encouraging people to get vaccinated.

Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department Epidemiologist Kristen Baker says Pertussis, which is commonly known as the Whooping Cough, has a trend of increasing every 3 to 5 years. Baker says in 2012, there were nine confirmed or suspect cases of the disease and so far this year, she says that number has doubled. Volunteers and local law enforcement agencies worked together to get prescription drugs off the streets.

As part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department had their annual drive-thru drop off event Saturday.
