Zanesville Police recently made changes to staffing in hopes of giving the department a new perspective.

This week Chief Eric Lambes said he has moved around two of his captains and a lieutenant in order to fulfill some neglected areas. For the past year, Captain Kenneth Miller has been on leave. Before his leave Miller was in charge of some administrative duties. While he's been gone some aspects of his position have fallen behind. The department now needs to catch up.

A longtime member of the Zanesville Police Department works his last shift.

Detective Sgt. Ric Roush has spent the last 30 years with the ZPD and the last 12 as Sergeant of Detectives. Thursday, he retired to take a new position as Director of Safety at Maysville High School.

Some staffing changes are likely coming to the Zanesville Police Department.

Monday, Zanesville City Council passed an ordinance in its first reading that would allow the Police Department to increase its lieutenants on staff from two to three allowing a lieutenant to be on staff during all three shifts.
