On this Labor Day, a local restaurant is serving those who serve the community day in and day out.

In what they call 'Hospitality on a Visit,' employees from Olive Garden made a special trip to Zanesville's Public Safety Center. The Zanesville Police Department is joining a national effort to crack down on drunk driving.

The campaign "Over the Limit...Under Arrest" started last week and will continue through Labor Day.

"We're assigning an officer to patrol primarily, just to look for traffic offenses involving alcohol-related offenses," says Lt. Tony Coury.

A two-car accident at the intersection of West Main and Pine Street sends one person to the hospital.

Sergeant Chris Phipps of the Zanesville Police Department says a red Bonneville was traveling down Pine Street onto West Main Street when it appears that the vehicle lost brake control and was struck by an R.C. Zanesville Police search for a suspect in a Wednesday morning robbery.

Authorities said around 4:30am a short, heavy set male wearing a gray mask walked into the Duke and Duchess on Blue Avenue and robbed the store. He fled on foot.

Police said the man was around 5'5 and was wearing a white jacket.

A hearing has been set in a domestic abuse incident that police say happened Monday afternoon in Zanesville.

The Zanesville Police Department says it received a call that the suspect, 33-year-old Paul Mullet, tried to throw his live-in girlfriend off of the roof of a home while she was trying to escape. He then fled. Police say he later returned to the scene around 9p.m. locking himself in the attic threatening to do himself harm.

As the week-long Click-it or Ticket program draws to an end, Zanesville Police Department's Sergeant Chris Rice says that the program has helped the department crack down on driving violations throughout the city.

"So far we've had a good success. We've written 75 speeding violations, we've had over 28 other incidents including driving under suspension, towed vehicles. We even got an out-of-state felony warrant arrest from a traffic stop," says Sergeant Rice.

A vehicle takes out a light pole and flees the scene.

Zanesville Police Lt. Bill Shaw says the vehicle was heading north on Underwood Street at Market Street around midnight when it hit the pole.

Lt. Shaw says they're now searching for that vehicle which they believe to be full sized due to the size of the tire tracks. They believe the vehicle has front end damage along with damage to its roof from where the light pole fell.

The Zanesville Police Department is handling an accident Wednesday morning.

Just after 5am it was reported a car was on its top at Pershing Road at Indiana Street. Zanesville Police say one person was injured in the accident. The roadway is blocked at the intersection.

In the first few months of 2010, both the Zanesville Fire and Police departments are on target.

At today's Public Safety Meeting, council members met with the fire and police chiefs as well as the public safety director to discuss where the departments stand on their budgets.

A car crashes into a pole, sending two people to the hospital and knocking down a power line.

It happened around 7 p.m. at the corner of Woodlawn Avenue and Pierce Street in Zanesville.

Witnesses say the car was traveling down Woodlawn when it continued straight, instead of turning, and hit the pole.

It is still under investigation.
