George is the News Director of the WHIZ Media Group. He also co-anchors the 6:00PM news on WHIZ-TV and anchors daily news updates on AM1240 and Z92 radio stations. George has been working at the station since 1981 and started as a general assignment reporter. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s degree in communications. When not at work you can find George playing golf during the mornings on weekends and watching the Reds and Bengals win championships.
After leaving the news business for six years to start a family, Carolyn Haley-Fleegle returned to WHIZ-TV in April, 2006 to anchor LIVE AT NOON. She also co-anchors the 6 PM news. Before leaving the station, Carolyn co-anchored the 6 o'clock news and anchored the news at 11 for seven years.
An Ohio native, Carolyn grew up in Kettering, a suburb of Dayton. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where she obtained a degree in Communications.
While not at work, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her two sons going to the movies, bowling and playing miniature golf.
Nichole Hannahs is a native to Southeastern Ohio growing up in Perry County in the Village of Corning. She's also a proud graduate of Bishop Rosecrans High School.
Nichole joined WHIZ in 2000 as an intern before joining the staff full time as a photojournalist and sports reporter in 2005. She now works as a multi-platform journalist working in both radio and television. You can hear her every morning from 6:00-8:30 a.m. on AM 1240, Z92.7 and Highway 103.7.
Nichole graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication from Waynesburg College, emphasizing in Sports Broadcasting/Sports Information and Journalism. As a student at Waynesburg, Nichole held the position of Sports Director for WCYJ-FM, calling Yellow Jacket basketball games and high school football. She also was a sports anchor for a weekly newscast on WC-TV and a contributing reporter to the Waynesburg College Yellow Jacket newspaper.
Nichole chose broadcasting because of her love of community and learning what is important to the people of Southeastern Ohio. She's always looking for a good story.
When she's not working you can find Nichole at various sporting events, especially if hockey is involved. She also enjoys hiking at Blackhand Gorge with her husband, Brandon.
Josh joined the WHIZ News team as a reporter in May 2014.
A native of Darke County in the western portion of the state, Josh graduated from Ansonia High School where he was very involved in FFA, student government, and golf. He then attended college at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting with a Minor in Sports Communication.
While at Otterbein, Josh served as News Producer for WOCC-TV3, Westerville's public access channel housed at Otterbein. He then went on to serve as the Operations Manager for Otterbein-TV. On the radio side, Josh worked as the Sports Director for WOBN where he provided play-by-play coverage for well over 100 sporting events. He also had the opportunity to work as an intern for the Columbus Blue Jackets Radio Network for two seasons before interning with the sports department at WCMH-NBC4 in Columbus prior to graduation.
When not covering news, Josh enjoys golfing and four-wheeling in the warm weather and snowmobiling in the winter. You'll also catch him glued to the television anytime NASCAR, the Reds, Bengals, or Blue Jackets are on.
A small-town guy at heart, Josh is thrilled to be starting his news career in Zanesville and looks forward to becoming an active member of the community.
Bill is from the small town of Ottawa, Ohio in the northwest part of the state. He joined WHIZ in August 2014.
Prior to joining WHIZ he attended Kent State University where he graduated with a degree in Broadcast News. While at Kent State he was an active member of the student-run TV station, TV2-KSU. Along with being an anchor/producer of the public affairs program, Portage Pulse he also was a general assignment reporter, sports anchor, and reporter.
While not covering the news he enjoys reading a good book or watching baseball, NCAA basketball or any kind of football or soccer. You may see him running around town as he enjoys going for long runs to get his day started.
Being from the flattest part of the state he is ready to get his professional journalism career started right here in hilly Zanesville.
Kandee is a Zanesville native who joined the WHIZ news team in May 2015.
She is a proud Blue Devil from Zanesville High School. She still remembers singing in choir and cheering on the football team from the student section every Friday.
She went on to become a Muskie at Muskingum University where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and English. She was heavily involved with the radio station: WMCO 90.7, the newspaper: The Black and Magenta, and Orbit Television.
Kandee was lucky enough to intern at WHIZ in the summer of 2014 and she rushed to re-join the team after graduation.
When Kandee isn't on the scene for WHIZ, she enjoys hiking, camping, and reading. She also enjoys laying by the pool and binge watching The Office repeatedly on Netflix.
Kandee is so excited to be home to start her career with the same TV station she grew up watching!
Lindsay joined the WHIZ News team as a reporter in May 2015.
As a native of Cincinnati, Lindsay attended Oak Hills High School. She then continued her education at the University of Cincinnati where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and minored in Electronic Media.
During her college career, Lindsay contributed the campus newspaper, The News Record, and held the position of Secretary/ Director of Correspondence for the student chapter of the Online News Association.
Lindsay interned at Local 12 News in Cincinnati, as well as FOX19, where she honed her journalism skill-set and had the opportunity to work side-by-side with industry professionals.
Following her internship at FOX19, she was hired as a News Content Specialist, where she worked on set for the six-and-a-half hour morning news. In that position, she gained behind the scenes experience with cameras and floor directing.
When not covering news, she enjoys attending sporting events and watching her favorite teams on TV.
Lindsay is excited to start her career here in Zanesville and can't wait to learn more about the town.
