Wendell A. Smitley (March 8, 1934 – August 1, 2014)
Wendell A. Smitley, 80, of Zanesville, died at 4:34 P.M. on Friday, August 1, 2014, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born March 8, 1934, in Zanesville, a son of the late Leroy and Edythe Taylor Smitley. He retired in 1993 as an Operating Engineer from Shelly & Sands, was currently serving his 26th year as Falls Township Trustee, was a member of the Freeland Valley Antique Power Club, and the Ohio Township Association. Wendell was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Sally K. Allen Smitley; a daughter Molly E. (Marco) Adornetto of Zanesville; a son Wendell D. (Kim) Smitley of Gahanna; and four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madeline, Garrett, and Alison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Eleanor Porter.
Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M on Monday, August 4, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. He will be laid to rest at Williams Cemetery, Zanesville.
